Plug it in, get the report. USB temperature data loggers record on their own through storage or a shipment, then produce a PDF or CSV report the moment they're connected to a computer, usually with no software to install. Explore single-use loggers for one-way shipments and reusable loggers for fridges, cold rooms and repeated routes, with full specs and indicative prices in INR. USB temperature data loggers are also called USB temp loggers, pendrive-type data loggers or PDF data loggers, because they plug into any PC and create a report without installing software. You'll find single-use and reusable USB loggers here, plus USB humidity data loggers that record temperature and humidity together.
What is a USB temperature data logger?
A USB temperature data logger is a compact, battery-powered device that records temperature on its own during storage or shipment, then produces a PDF or CSV report when plugged into a computer. Single-use models travel one way with a shipment; reusable models are reset and used again.

Configure or activate. Reusable loggers are set up on a PC: logging interval, alarm limits and start mode. Single-use loggers usually come pre-configured; you just press start.
Record. The logger measures temperature at the set interval, from every few seconds to every few hours, and stores each reading with a timestamp. Many show alarm status on an LED or display.
Plug in. At the end of storage or delivery, connect the logger to any computer's USB port.
Get the report. Most modern loggers generate a PDF report automatically, with a temperature graph, min/max/average, alarm events and time out of range, ready to file or email. CSV or Excel exports are available for deeper analysis.
Match it to what you store or ship: 2–8°C for vaccines and most medicines, -20°C for frozen goods, -80°C for dry ice. For dry ice and cryogenic shipments, choose a model with an external probe.
±0.5°C is typical and suits most pharma and food use. Resolution (usually 0.1°C) is how finely readings are displayed, which isn't the same as accuracy.
Memory decides how long a logger can record at a given interval. Logging every 10 minutes for 60 days is about 8,640 readings, so a 16,000 or 32,000 reading logger covers it comfortably.
Check how recording starts (button press, time delay, or scheduled start) and whether a start delay is available so the logger doesn't record warm-up conditions while being packed.
Look for single and cumulative alarms: a single alarm triggers on one out-of-range reading, while a cumulative alarm triggers when total time out of range exceeds a limit. LED or display indicators let the receiver see at a glance whether the shipment passed.
Single-use loggers have a battery shelf life before activation, often around 12 to 24 months. Check it before buying in bulk, and use older stock first.
Auto PDF generation with no software is the most convenient, especially for receivers. Check that the report includes a graph, alarm summary and device serial number, and whether CSV or Excel export is available.
For food and cold chain transport, EN 12830 certification is common. For pharma, check calibration certificates and 21 CFR Part 11 support in the software. For air freight, check whether the model is airline approved.
A display showing current temperature, alarm status or min/max lets staff check a fridge or shipment without plugging in.

Pharma and vaccine shipments: proof of temperature from manufacturer to distributor to pharmacy.
Export consignments: one-way single-use loggers that travel with the goods, with the PDF report as evidence for the buyer.
Medicine and vaccine fridges: reusable loggers in clinics, pharmacies and hospital wards.
Food and dairy transport: EN 12830 loggers for chilled and frozen deliveries.
Cold rooms and warehouses: low-cost monitoring where real-time alerts aren't required.
Laboratories: sample storage, reagent fridges and incubators.
Need real-time alerts so excursions can be stopped as they happen? See wireless temperature data loggers and GPS temperature trackers.
On this site, USB temperature data loggers range from about ₹400 to ₹42,000. As a rough guide:
For single-use loggers, the cost per shipment matters most, and bulk orders bring the unit price down considerably. Tell us your monthly shipment volume and temperature range for the best price.

A USB temperature data logger is a small device that records temperature at set intervals on its own, without power or network, and stores the readings in memory. When you plug it into a computer's USB port, it produces a report, often a PDF generated automatically, showing the full temperature history and any alarms.
Most modern USB loggers create a PDF report automatically when plugged in, so no software is needed just to read it. Software is usually needed to configure reusable loggers, change alarm limits or export detailed data.
It depends on memory and logging interval. A logger with 32,000 readings recording every 10 minutes can run for over 200 days. Single-use loggers have a fixed maximum recording time, such as 30, 60 or 90 days.
No. USB loggers store data for review afterwards, though many show alarm status on an LED or display. For live alerts during transit, use a GPS temperature tracker or a wireless logger.
USB temperature data loggers listed on this site range from about ₹400 to ₹42,000. Single-use models are the lowest per unit, especially in bulk, while reusable, display, humidity and probe models cost more.
Yes. "Pendrive-type" is a common name in India for USB data loggers that plug straight into a PC and create a PDF report.
Only with an external probe or a model rated for dry ice, such as the Testo 184 T4, Tempod 100X or Elitech LogEt 6 PT.
